Wiimote Controller Support for the HTC Evo with Custom Rom

Things keep getting better for the Evo this week first the Froyo update is announced and now shdwknt has posted video of his Evo successfully using the Wiimote as a bluetooth controller on his various emulators over on PPCGeeks.com.  This lets him play classics like SNES, Genesis, and even Playstation using  WiiRemote as a controller.  With the Evo's kickstand and multi-player support the Evo just got even better. I tried this app before and it wasn't compatible with HTC Sense so it seems to work for him because he is using the custom rom from Cyanogen that does not use HTC Sense. Hopefully someone will find a way to use this and keep HTC Sense cause I don't wanna lose it but I can't wait to get some Mario and Sonic crackin with a REAL controller!!!!

Verizon's Motorola Droid to get Android 2.2 Update Next Week

Not to be left behind by Sprint and the HTC Evo 4G, Verizon announces that the Motorola Droid will be receiving an update to Froyo Android 2.2 sometime next week.  I'm glad to see the carriers putting heat on each other, this is what happens when all the carriers start getting quality phones! No mention of the other phones in the Droid-family, but they can't be far behind. This is also great news for Droid owners because it shows that the phone wont be completely abandoned by VZW now that the Droid 2 right around the corner.

My Touch 3G HD Pics Leaked

T-Mobile customers may be in for some high end exclusive Android goodness in the near future.  Pics leak of an upcoming addition to their successful My Touch 3G line of Android handsets, and so far it looks really good. No Specs have been leaked yet but if it builds off of where the 3G Slide left off it should be a good phone. Rumors have it that it will be the first HSPA+ ("4G-like" data speeds) equipped Just keep those fingers crossed that "HD" means it will at least have 1Ghz processor, 4" display, front facing camera, and Android 2.2.

Hands on with the Samsung Intercept from Sprint

I was fortunate enough to snag the new Samsung Intercept a day early from Radio Shack and knocked out a quick video review and comparison to the Samsung Moment. My first impressions of the device are pretty good. Great physical improvements from the Moment and aside from our device having some minor issues recognizing button presses on the touch sensitive buttons, it seems to be much more like the quality you'd expect from Samsung. Check out the video to see for yourself.

Sprint's Samsung Intercept

Sprint has officially announced the Samsung Intercept which will likely be the replacement for the bug-ridden Samsung Moment. This device is almost exactly the same as the Moment except for an improved design. In my opinion the moment always looked like a prototype honestly. No matter how you look at it this device does add another option to Sprint's Android offerings and can be yours this weekend on July 11th for a 100 bucks!

Check out this video from a lucky guy who snagged one early:

LG Builds It's Own Android Arsenal

LG begins to release the first of it's wave of Google powered Android phones to the world. These devices will compete with the offerings from HTC, Motorola and Samsung. Launching off over seas first of course but likely to make it to the U.S. in one form or another soon.

I don't really care for LG's designs but I'm glad that more Google options will be in the market. As the Android Army grows its good for all who use Google powered phones; it increases the appeal to developers, which means more and better apps and more. It will be interesting to see how these phones show up across the different american carriers...

Very few details have been released so far, but it looks like the devices will come with Android 2.2 Froyo out of the box!!!
